OpenAI to Acquire Bellevue Startup Statsig in $1.1B Deal

OpenAI, the company behind ChatGPT, is set to acquire Bellevue-based startup Statsig in a $1.1 billion all-stock deal. This marks the largest acquisition in the company’s history.

Founded in 2021, Statsig helps software developers test and monitor new product features. Its tools are already being used by teams at companies like OpenAI, Eventbrite, and SoundCloud. Earlier this year, Statsig raised $100 million at the same $1.1 billion valuation.

As part of the acquisition, Statsig’s founder and CEO, Vijaye Raji, will join OpenAI as Chief Technology Officer of Applications. The Statsig team will continue operating from the Seattle area, strengthening OpenAI’s presence in a region already known for its AI and tech talent.

This move is part of OpenAI’s broader expansion strategy. The company also recently announced a $6.5 billion acquisition of an AI hardware startup co-founded by former Apple designer Jony Ive. With a current valuation of around $500 billion, OpenAI is making it clear that it intends to lead the next phase of AI innovation.
