A Nobu Restaurant Is Headed to the Eastside

If you've ever wanted to try Nobu without hopping a flight, your moment is almost here.

If you've been watching downtown Bellevue's skyline fill in over the past few years, you already know the Eastside is having a serious moment. And now? It just got even more exciting.

Nobu -- yes, that Nobu -- is officially coming to Bellevue.

The iconic Peruvian-Japanese fusion restaurant will be anchoring Avenue Bellevue, a stunning two-building mixed-use development that takes up an entire city block near the corner of NE 8th Street and Bellevue Way NE. The project is developed by Silverstein Properties and includes 365 condo units, some of which are million-dollar-plus homes with sweeping views of Lake Washington and the Olympic Mountains.

In a fitting nod to the new anchor tenant, the development will be rebranded as Nobu Residences Bellevue. The restaurant itself will span 10,000 square feet of fine-dining space -- so expect an experience worthy of the name.

For the uninitiated: Nobu is the brainchild of acclaimed chef Nobu Matsuhisa, with a celeb-studded ownership group that includes Robert De Niro. The original location opened in Tribeca back in 1994 and is widely credited with bringing high-end Peruvian-Japanese cuisine into the American dining conversation. (If you've ever had black miso cod on a menu somewhere and thought, "where did this come from?" -- it came from Nobu. It's arguably the most imitated dish in sushi restaurants across the country.)

The Bellevue location is slated to open next year, and if the buzz around this announcement is any indication, reservations are going to go fast.

Whether you're a foodie, a future resident eyeing those lake-view condos, or just someone keeping tabs on how Bellevue continues to evolve -- this one is worth watching.
